Do you guide full or part time? A full time guide
spends their time on the water learning where and how to catch fish
for the client's enjoyment.
-
What kind of boat do you have and how old is it?
You should expect good, dependable and safe equipment.
-
Do you teach or just take me fishing? Clarify what
you want out of your trip, a good guide should be volunteering their
information on the how's and why's of what they're doing. They should
be concerned about your ability to catch fish and not just catching
the fish themselves.
-
What is the cost and what means of payment are accepted?
-
How has the fishing been and what can we expect to
catch? No matter how tough the fishing has been or may be, you should
expect the best efforts out of your guide and get your moneys worth.
-
Where can I buy a license, where can we meet and
how do I get there?
-
What tackle do you provide, what should I bring,
food, water etc?
-
Do you practice catch and release and what if I
catch a trophy?
-
How and when do you provide for restroom breaks if needed?
-
Expect your guide to be courteous, professional and
willing to answer all your questions when you talk with them, if not,
then call another guide.
Your guide will expect
That you show up on time, act responsibly, and
prompt payment in the manner agreed upon before the trip. Good guides
work hard at their jobs, are usually self employed, do their own
bookkeeping, etc., so are very appreciative of any tips when they
have met or exceeded your expectations.
These opinions are offered by Bob Myskey's (Bassin
with Bob) Guide Service. Please feel free to contact me at any time
if you just need general information about how the fishing has been
or what to use when you come here to Clear Lake to fish. Email
me with any questions and I will gladly reply.
